Civil War Period Chess set w/box - Excellent set here & complete with all original bone or ivory game pieces and box, this set would have been carried by a High Ranking Officer. The box size is 11" by 11" open, 1" deep, board top made of inlays, shows age & use, inlays have some age cracking, storage box only missing the latch hook. Chess set pieces remain very good with some age cracking typical of this material, only a couple with very small chips, one has a old glue repair and is almost impossible to notice & cant be seen while on display, the King & Queen are 3" tall for size.
