SCARCE Pattern 1826 Shoulder Belt Plate - Excellent example here of the NCO shoulder belt plate with doubled iron wire hooks. Used by infantry NCO to support Model 1840 Sword. Buckle looks to be on a cartridge box shoulder sling. Leather belt is 48" long by 2 1/4" wide, the ends are missing. I have not removed the buckle & cant see any maker marks. Pattern 1851 Eagle Sword Belt Buckle - Buckle missing the silver wreath, stamped on the reverse US Allegheny Arsenal and bench stamped 1866. Buckle was recoverd 20 years ago by David Wignall, just south of Marshalltown, Iowa near a known army camp that protected settlers from Indian attacks.
