GAR Hall Oak Wood Cannon Ink Well - I suspect this was used in a GAR Hall, no post number applied. The base is 6" by 3", the barrel is 5 3/4" long with a 1" diameter muzzle, 1 1/2" at breech. Couple small chips on the original white ceramic ink well which can be removed. The hopper end has remains of brown velvet material worn thin in the front corners. The base wood might have been made of 2 sections of wood, it does not looked cracked to me, just shows age from wood dryness & shrinkage. This shows honest use & wear with ink stains to the ink well area. There is a number on top of the barrel, have no idea what this represents. GAR Reunion Ribbon - Dated 1900, GAR Post # 220 is Major Mays Franklin, Pa, the size is 2" by 7", good condition. Captain Miller received his Medal of Honor for his gallant charge and was presented with it in 1897. He died in 1919, and was buried with honors at Gettysburg. The gold lettering on his tombstone sets him apart as a winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor – the only Medal of Honor recipient from the Battle of Gettysburg to be buried in Gettysburg’s Soldiers National Cemetery.
