Pattern 1881 Artillery Officers Helmet - Overall very good condition showing honest age & light use, complete with sweat band. Helmet is out of shape from many years of storage, I see no cracks or issues to note. I have the horse hair plume tied, will have to dismantle to ship. All parts to include cords are original period, hard pressed finding them in this price range. Civil War Confederate General Officer's Sash - Excellent condition overall with no mothing, shows minor wear & use with light staining. Sash body is 5" laid flat with a total of 12 feet long, the knot & tassel are 9 1/2" long. Sash identified to CS General Joeseph A. Reeves of Camden, Arkansas. Enlisted first in the City Guards of Camden, of his home town, became a 1st Lieutenant May 15, 1861 in Co H of the 6th Arkansas Regiment, then promoted to captain of company & commanded for 2 years, was participant in all engagements west of the Mississippi, near the end of the war made General Officer. Born August 22, 1836 Died October 12, 1912, Sash purchased by Doris Mackenzie from the family of Frances Fitzpatrick, maiden name "Rodgers" fathers name Steven Rogers, possible a niece, the 90 year old husband could not remember if Joseph Reeves was an uncle or great uncle of Frances which passed some 10 years ago or more. More research could prove interesting here. Old paper image passed along with Sash showing Reeves wearing the same sash and will remain with it. - Price is $ 2500.00 plus shipping and insurance. Civil War French Drum w/drum stick bandolier - Pretty much in untouched condition, never cleaned and remains a little dirty. Brass shell drum with original hoops & heads tied together with cloths line for display. Drum as you see it is 15" in diameter by 10" high, heads & hoops are not fitted together and remain a little out of shape. Bandolier remains very good with a 3 1/2" by 3 1/4" brass buckle and 2 - 16" long rosewood drum sticks with brass caps. Drum stick caps show the most wear & use with a repair to the one, coin inside looks french, dated 1932. This would be the center piece of any display. - Price is $ SOLD plus shipping and insurance. SCARCE Officers Fedora or slouch hat - Circa 1870's to 1880's, Indain War period hat with masonic insignia, my opinion dating. This could easy date to the civil war by a couple other colleague opinions. Scarce example here, somewhat semi-stiff black felt with a 2" sweat band, sewed brim border, complete with original ostrich feather & rosette. Hat size marked size 7, velvet masonic insignia full size, 3 1/2" high by 2 1/2" wide,, just like the insignia from the civil war. Hat is un-touched fresh from an attic, it is dirty overall, shows light wear & use. I'm not about to clean the felt and like the looks as it is all origianl, we will let the buyer decide. My opinion this is a very scarce example of headgear seldom found anywhere. Brass Bugle - Brass Artillery Bugle maker marked Henry Keat & Sons as well as the mouth piece. Bugle is approximately 10 1/2" long with a 4" diameter reinforced bell, very good condition showing use & wear with minor dents, nice dark patina, artillery cord is a replacement and not original. Artillery Shell Jacket - Artillery Shell Jacket with a 12 button front, 2 3/4" stand up collar. Jacket complete with all original buttons, no backmarks, all front buttons resewed, 2 are replaced with period buttons, 2" seam separation left shoulder, easy fix if desired. Minor wear to inside collar & cuff area, 4 dots for size 4, inspection stamped, jacket overall excellent condition showing honest age. - Price is $ 2850.00 plus shipping and insurance. Indian War/Span Am Great Coat - Late Indian War, Spanish American War New Jersey National Guard Double Breasted Winter Coat. Coat reamins very good overall showing honest age & use, I see just a couple moth nips, one sleeve lining is missing. The inside chest pocket with maker label, Size 3,, WM.H. Horstmann Company Philadelphia. Jacket & Cape complete with all buttons, NG NJ with Horstmann Phila backmarks. Overall 45" long with a 4" collar, 18" shoulder to shoulder with cape being 26" long. Maple Shell Drum - Post Civil War snare drum, circa 1890 to 1920. Paper maker label inside vent hole, The Imperial Co Cincinnati O. Drum is 16" in diameter by 11" high, 2 leather ears missing. Overall good condition, shows age & use, some wood shrinkage to side that look like cracks, thats what happens to bent wood. Massachusets Linen Haversack - Haversack is complete with rice bag, both bone inside buttons have been removed. Overall bag size is 9 1/2" by 9 1/2" with a 1" wide strap 46" long. Inside outer flap is stamped, cant decipher the letters. Overall in excellent condition showing honest age and light use. SCARCE CIRCA 1840 CHAPEAU HEADGEAR - Excellent Example here of one of the most sought after headgears, shows honest age & use, complete with inside liner & sweat band. Painted Wood Drum - circa 1875, I date this Indian War Period to a little later by label & maker. Paper label inside reads, Manufactured for Oliver Ditson Co Everything in Music Boston Mass by Lyon & Healy Chicago. Drum is 16" by 11", painted blue shell with gold painted hoops, missing some leathers, some are replaced, rope very old, could have been replaced at some point. Lincoln Style Top Hat - 19th century black cloth collapsible top hat, maker inside John Wanamaker. Stands 5 1/2" tall, approximate hat size is 6 to 6 1/2. Shows wear & use, back spring broken with no harm to display, small hole and pulled loose some at top, see photo. Circa 1860 SCARCE Lincoln's Wide-Awake Kepi - Black coated or painted oil cloth kepi worn by the Lincoln's Wide-Awake, Invincibles or Liege man alike. Both original goodyear star pattern buttons & chin strap intact. Inside liner remains excellent with a 1 1/2" leather sweat band. Outside painted body surface shows age with some flaking & cracking, nothing extreme. Very scarce hat here, had about 6 in the past 30 years, 2 went to museums. Hat remains excellent overall showing honest age & light use. Here is your chance to own one. The standard Wide Awake uniform consisted of a full robe or cape, a black glazed hat, and a torch six feet in length to which a large, flaming, pivoting whale-oil container was mounted. Its activities were conducted primarily in the evening and consisted of several night-time torch-lit marches through cities in the northeast and border states. - Price is $ 1250.00 plus shipping and insurance. New York National Guard Coatee - NYNG 19th century uniform, overall good condition showing honest age & use. One front row of breast buttons missing, 1 reverse tail bomb missing. Collar shows the most wear on the inside. One inside tail pocket with one inside chect pocket. Maker label inside, Brooks Brothers Broadway New York. Both original epauletts show age, one is pinned, one with some wire holding to jacket, one shoulder epaulette strap broken with little harm. Cotton lining inside remains good overall showing honest wear. The price is right, needs a good home,, I see just the epaulettes selling for the price listed here. - Price is $ 375.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-14-2333

New York National Guard Coatee - NYNG 19th century uniform, overall very good condition showing honest age & use. Small in size as most are, overall 36" long from the top of collar to bottom of the tails. Shoulder to shoulder is 15" with a 2" stand-up collar, sleeves are 26" long, 2 inside tail pocket with one inside chect pocket. Maker label inside Ridabock & Co New York, dates the coat. Button backmark by the same maker, 48 total buttons, two are missing, one on the cuff, one on the tail. Inside cotton padded lining remains very good with light soiling. Mexican War Lieutenant Colonel of Staff Shoulder Straps - SCARCE STRAPS HERE, both shows signs of use & wear, overall they remain excellent in condition, all hand sewed & made, size is 2" by 4 1/4". - Price is $ 1200.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-16

GAR Hat - GAR Hat with post number 23, complete with liner & sweat band and both GAR buttons, size tag inside 7 3/8, chin strap is missing. One small 1 1/4" repair to wool body, a small 1/2" tear or snag on top, sweat band with a couple weak or pulled areas, I see 2 tiny pin holes and one moth nip by the button, overall a nice hat. - Price is $ 375.00 plus shipping and insurance. Officers Crimson Sash - SCARCE extra wide body & seldom seen, 9 1/2" wide laid flat. Overall 108" long to include knots & tassels. Knots & tassels are 9 1/2" long, turning just a shade of purple as most do. Sash remains excellent in condition, shows age & light use, couple very small pin holes and one the size of a pencil, nothing extreme. NOTE: the scarce wide size, seldom ever seen, it will be years until you find another this wide. - Price is $ SOLD plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-18-2403

5th Maryland Coatee - Jacket remains excellent overall with minor light stains & soiling in the arm pits. One small 1" snag hole to the sleeve, couple inches of seam seperation to the one arm pit. Two inside tail pockets, 1 inside breast pockets, 2" stand up collar, 18" from shoulder to shoulder with 24" sleeves, 38" long overall. Coatee complete with all buttons, backmarks Superior Quality. The 5th Maryland Regiment represented Maryland in the Centennial Legion in the GREAT military parade Philedaphia July 4th 1876 wearing this same coat. 19th Century French Brass Shell Drum - Drum is is 16" by 11 1/2" high, the shell & hoops are original with everything else being replaced. Hoops have been painted blue, paint shows areas of wear & scuffs. I date this drum circa 1870 to 1880, will pass as a civil war period piece. Drum is playable, gut snare missing along with adjustment, recondition for display. Overall drum looks great and will display well in any relic room. - Price is $ 550.00 plus shipping and insurance. Model 1858 Cavalry Hardee Hat - aka "Jeff Davis Hat" - Bannermans Surplus, all original to include hat cord, cavalry insignia and ostrich feather plume adornment. No brass hardee plate and shows no signs of ever having any applied. Two stiched brim border just the way you want to see them. Did not get a photo of the original silk hat band under the cavalry hat cord, its there. Morocco leather sweat band is 2 1/2" wide, a tad loose back or reverse seam. Original maker label inside reads, US Army Extra Manufacture 7 1/8 NO 4. Hat remains excellent overall showing only honest age, does not look to ever have been worn. One small pencil size push from the inside top crown in the label top of the "T", did not poke a hole. Hardee Hats Getting Scarce in this condition. - Price is $ 4650.00 plus shipping and insurance. Civil War Artillery Shell Jacket - Excellent condition overall, standard 12 button front with a 2 1/2" stand up collar, both pillows on the reverse. Jacket shows minor wear & use, shows signs of a few modern stich repairs, complete with all original buttons, liner remains excellent, inside sleeve with 3 dots for size 3 & stamped number "3", inspection mark stamped & hard to decipher. Indian War Period McDowell Style Officers Cap - More scarce than the civil war counter part, seldom seen today. Both New York buttons, chin strap, liner, sweat band all original. Maker marked inside with Ridabock & Co Formally Baker & McKenney Military Goods 141 Grand St New York. Overall very good condition showing honest age & light use. Civil War Period Brass Shell Drum - French Brass shell drum with red painted hoops is 15 1/2" in diameter by 9" tall. Shows age & use with several alterations and re-build. Pattern 1899 Cavalry Officers Khaki Field Blouse - Spanish American War uniform with cavalry shoulder tabs. Shoulder tabs can be replaced easy for any branch of service, artillery or infantry if you like. Overall very good condition showing honest age & use. Small hole in arm sleeve & stained, could this have been a bullet hole ? Inside with inspection stamping, Received F E Bent Inspector QMD NY ?? & Co. Pattern 1881 Cavalry Officers Helmet - Excellent condition overall, helmet shows honest age & light use. The only negative is the sweat band has a small tear and is loose, needs glued, you fix if desired. The orginal horse hair yellow plume missing and was replaced with a pattern 1887 darker one. Civil War French Model 1860 Leather Shako - The sturdy black leather shako was issued to 62d & 83d Pennsylvania, 18th Massachusetts and the 49th & 72d New York with most going to New York. Shako shows light wear & use, chin strap tucked inside, complete but dry & broken in half. The 2" sweat band is loose in the front with chipping around the border edge. Shako has a 6" white wool plume with brass stem. This type of shako use to be common, not any more, getting scarce. GAR Hats - The man of 3 hats, 3 bowlers with GAR Insignia and hat cords. You can only suspect he fought in the artillery, infantry & cavalry during the civil war. All the same size, 6 3/4, one with initials W. E. L. on the sweat band. I was going to sell them separate, they all came together as one lot. I wish I could shed light to the original owner or more provenance, lost to time. Overall, all 3 are in good condition showing honest age & use. Great Seal of the Confederacy - Excellent condition overall, case shows light use & wear from storage, case size is 5" square by 1" thick, velvet-lined with seal covered in glass. This is one of a 1000 electrotype replicas manufactured in 1873, coated in gold, silver and bronze, not many have survived time. These copies made to raise revenue for southern widows & orphans in need of money. Reproduction Civil War Drum - Made by Noble & Cooley Company, overall drum is 17" in diameter by 14 1/2" high. Made for the sesquicentennial using the same jigs, fixtures and material as they were made 150 ago in 1861. This one is number 8 of 50 for 2011.
