Civil War Eagle Drum - Hand painted eagle drum made by maker Richard Mein. Mein had 3 contracts, 500 in 8/29 1862, 100 in 11/3 1863 and 500 more in 12/31 1863. Original label inside reads, Rich'd Mein, Fordham Westchester Co NY. Drum is 10 3/4" high to include hoops and 16 1/2" in diameter. Calf skin heads, leather tugs & gut snare are replaced. Rope is very old, doubt original to the civil war. Overall excellent condition showing honest age, several tacks are missing to vent hole area. Eagle paint looks to be all original, I see no touch-up, some minor scuffs with no harm done. There is some green paint droppings to the one hoop, this might be house wall paint. Drum shell looks to me to be ash wood. Scarce Richard Mein made example seldom seen for sale. Drum has a retail value of 5000.00, hard pressed finding them in this price range as seen here. - Price is $ 3500.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-1-2032

Civil War Confederate General Officer's Sash - Excellent condition overall with no mothing, shows minor wear & use with light staining. Sash body is 5" laid flat with a total of 12 feet long, the knot & tassel are 9 1/2" long. Sash identified to CS General Joeseph A. Reeves of Camden, Arkansas. Enlisted first in the City Guards of Camden, of his home town, became a 1st Lieutenant May 15, 1861 in Co H of the 6th Arkansas Regiment, then promoted to captain of company & commanded for 2 years, was participant in all engagements west of the Mississippi, near the end of the war made General Officer. Born August 22, 1836 Died October 12, 1912, Sash purchased by Doris Mackenzie from the family of Frances Fitzpatrick, maiden name "Rodgers" fathers name Steven Rogers, possible a niece, the 90 year old husband could not remember if Joseph Reeves was an uncle or great uncle of Frances which passed some 10 years ago or more. More research could prove interesting here. Old paper image passed along with Sash showing Reeves wearing the same sash and will remain with it. - Price is $ 2500.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-2-969

SCARCE Officers Fedora or slouch hat - Circa 1870's to 1880's, Indain War period hat with masonic insignia, my opinion dating. Hat size marked size 7, velvet masonic insignia full size, 3 1/2" high by 2 1/2" wide,, just like the insignia from the civil war.
