Civil War Artillery Shell Jacket - Excellent condition overall with no mothing, standard 12 button front with a 2 1/2" stand up collar, both pillows on the reverse. SCARCE Civil War Flag Pole Rope & Tassel - From the Craig Caba collection who purchased a whole box of these, the box was marked from the Horstmann Company, just a tad over 15 feet long with 3/8" rope, the tassel ends & knots are 6 1/2" long, material looks to be a mixture of silk & wool blend, this one remains in excellent unused condition, last one. - Price is $ 350.00 plus shipping and insurance. Civil War Union Officer's Frock Coat - Excellent example of a regulation 9 button single breasted fine dark blue wool frock with quilted green silk, cotton, polished blend liner. All buttons are Eagle General Service Staff with "Canfield. Bros & Co Baltimore" backmarks with 9 on the front, 2 on the reverse back and 3 each cuff. Jacket has inside pocket with tails each having one. Elbow size laid flat is balloon to 9 1/2", cuffs are 4 1/2" flat, shoulder to shoulder is 18", stand up velvet lined collar is 1 1/2", middle back reverse is 19 1/2" to top collar with middle back to bottom tail 21 1/2". Previous owner had jacket professionally restored with work being top rate & museum quality, to include liner & moth damage repairs. Most moth damage was to the left side as can be seen in photos, nothing extreme but shows trails. I cant stress enough the quality of this restoration. Uniform does show light use & wear and not being used for any long period of time during the war. Shoulder straps have been removed and will be up to buyer to replace or leave alone. Brass Bugle - Brass Artillery Bugle maker marked Henry Keat & Sons as well as the mouth piece. Bugle is approximately 10 1/2" long with a 4" diameter reinforced bell, very good condition showing use & wear with minor dents, nice dark patina, artillery cord is a replacement and not original. GAR Kepi - GAR kepi with post 58 insignia, this is one of several in Harrisburg, Pa. The largest civil war training camp was located in Harrisbrg, Camp Curtain, this is where many of union troop passed & enlisted. No mothing of any kind with only minor liner damage, being torn & pulled loose on the one side. Complete sweat band, neatly stiched inside "L.B." for owner, remains of the size sticker "7" still intact. Silver maker stamping looks to be Horstmann, can't decipher. Civil War Era Wood Snare Drum - Natural wood body snare drum, 17" in diameter by 13 1/2" high having natural wood hoops drilled for rope tensioners with a ten pointed star inlay around the vent hole typical of Drum Maker William Sempf of New York. Marked inside on hoop as being played by William H. Carlisle. Tag & information purchased with drum identify it to William Carlisle age 24 Co. F. 113 Pa Vol Leeburg, Va. also to Howard Carlisle, age 10, 1896. Copies of William Carlisle service records are included. This information was included when restored by Jack Gurney. Civil War Forage Hat - Forage Hat remains very good condition with light moth nipping, one small trail, left side, not complete or torn through, overall shows light use & wear, some leather brim & chin strap stain to wool body, leather sweat band a tad loose with some missing stiching. Both original infantry "I" buttons, liner may be an old period replacement and is very well done, I make note here, almost impossible to tell and does not hurt any when displayed, you look at the outside. Civil War Folding Cot - Old tag reads, Officers Folding Field Cot, I suspect this was for medical use, my opinion, yet, I have never seen another just like it. Overall very good condition showing age, leather straps are tired, bottom bed leather straps for metal cast iron brackets are broke and need replaced, easy fix with a couple inches of old leather. Restored 19th Century Drum - Maker label inside drum of Henry Eisele of New York, drum is a natural wood "maple" body having original hoops with rope tensioner hooks, the size is 17" in diameter by 14". The vent hole is surrounded by an 10 pointed inlay star. The drum is identified to be played by Bartholomew M. Lynch, Co. C. 203 Regiment Pa Volunteers with period inscriptions inside shell, one dates to Waverly, Pa 1875, copies of service records are included. He is listed as a Musician and seems to have played a part on the assault & capture of Fort Fisher January 15, 1865, this does not confirm the drum was there. Drum has a complete restoration with leathers & rope being replaced, bottom head looks period as well as the strainer, included are 16" reproduction drum sticks for display. - Price is $ 950.00 plus shipping and insurance. Graduation Cap - The cap is no question 19th century, circa 1880's to 1900, somewhat scarce example, by far this is the oldest I have yet to experience & examine, shows all signs of 19th century construction, sewing, material, etc. Cap top is 9" by 9" with a velvet center button, missing the tassel. Leather sweat band & liner complete, overall very good to include a size sticker, marked 7 1/8. Civil War French Model 1860 Leather Shako - The sturdy black leather shako was issued to 62d & 83d Pennsylvania, 18th Massachusetts and the 49th & 72d New York with most going to New York. Shako shows minor wear & use, chin strap tucked inside but broken in half from wear, the yellow pom-pom not original to the headgear but works well for display. This type of shako use to be common, not no more, getting quite scarce in good condition and getting very hard to acquire nice examples like this one. This will be the cheapest civil war headgear to purchase and dipslays nice, they have doubled in price in the last few years. Maple Shell Drum - Circa 1840 tack decorated snare drum 16-1/2" high by 16-1/2" in diameter having a natural wood finish shell and red painted wood hoops. A paper label inside reads, Henry H. Guetter/Importer of every description of German and/French musical instruments./Bethlehem, PA/Instruments of all kinds/carefully repaired/Fresh violin strings. Henry H. Guetter was born in Germany in 1797, came to America in 1817, and died in 1847. Included are (2) drumsticks, one bent from age & wood drying. The drum is in fine condition overall having both heads intact, a shell with no cracks, and old worn tensioning cords having leather ears that appear to be all original. Civil War Officer's Slouch Hat - Just about impossible to aquire today, just surfaced from Mansfield, Pa. The slouch remains in good condition, shows its age with only a couple very small moth nips, missing the leather sweatband, hat is a tad soiled and out of shape. Same type or example of hat is imaged in the Echoes of Glory, Arms and Equipment of the Union, page 185. Insignia of 38th Infantry, 9th Pa. Post Civil War West Point Shako Headgear - Excellent example of one of many different styles of headgear used through the years at West Point, if you collect headgear, here is a chance to have something different & unique. Only missing the pom-pom, other wise very good condition, shows age & use with chin strap replaced with new, the old one still intact, one button replaced with a period coat jacket button, hat size marked inside 7 1/4. Maker label still inside, Ridabock & Co 251 5th Ave New York dates this to circa 1928 to 1931. SCARCE Leather Forage Hat - Circa 1820's - SCARCE example here, all tar painted body, similar to the tar bucket or a Yeoman style cap that had no side buttons or chin strap, copied from the British, complete with front Infantry eagle insignia to include regiment number "2". Great Seal of the Confederacy - Excellent condition overall, case shows light use & wear from storage, case size is 5" square by 1" thick, velvet-lined with seal covered in glass. This is one of a 1000 electrotype replicas manufactured in 1873, coated in gold, silver and bronze, not many have survived time. These copies made to raise revenue for southern widows & orphans in need of money.
