Civil War Confederate General Officer's Sash - Excellent condition overall with no mothing, shows minor wear & use with light staining. Sash body is 5" laid flat with a total of 12 feet long, the knot & tassel are 9 1/2" long. Sash identified to CS General Joeseph A. Reeves of Camden, Arkansas. Enlisted first in the City Guards of Camden, of his home town, became a 1st Lieutenant May 15, 1861 in Co H of the 6th Arkansas Regiment, then promoted to captain of company & commanded for 2 years, was participant in all engagements west of the Mississippi, near the end of the war made General Officer. Born August 22, 1836 Died October 12, 1912, Sash purchased by Doris Mackenzie from the family of Frances Fitzpatrick, maiden name "Rodgers" fathers name Steven Rogers, possible a niece, the 90 year old husband could not remember if Joseph Reeves was an uncle or great uncle of Frances which passed some 10 years ago or more. More research could prove interesting here. Old paper image passed along with Sash showing Reeves wearing the same sash and will remain with it. - Price is $ 3500.00 plus shipping and insurance. GAR Kepi - GAR Kepi with post number 6 or 9 and brass hat insignia, missing one hook on reverse, comes with 4 letters dated 1957 seeking information from the state of Massachusetts. Hat overall good condition showing honest age & use, some moth nipping, maker marked inside on sweat-band Hortsmann Company Phila. Sweat band with a couple weak or pulled areas, inside liner complete, chin strap and both GAR buttons there, overall a nice hat for the money. - Price is $ 325.00 plus shipping and insurance. Civil War Cavalry Shell Jacket - Cavalry Shell Jacket complete with all buttons, 12 button front with a 2 3/4" standup collar, both pillows on the reverse. Jacket with costume markings inside & government inspection stamp, marked size 2. Shell jacket has damage to left sleeve cuff area with a small amount of material loss. Brass Bugle - Brass Artillery Bugle maker marked Henry Keat & Sons as well as the mouth piece. Bugle is approximately 10 1/2" long with a 4" diameter reinforced bell, very good condition showing use & wear with minor dents, nice dark patina, artillery cord is a replacement and not original. Artillery Shell Jacket - Excellent Condition Artillery Shell Jacket with a 12 button front, 2 3/4" stand up collar. GAR Kepi - GAR kepi with post number 58 insignia, this is one of 2 GAR post in Harrisburg, Pa. The largest civil war training camp was located in Harrisburg, Pa, "Camp Curtain", this is where most of union troops passed & enlisted. No mothing of any kind with only minor liner damage, being torn & pulled loose on the one side. Complete sweat band, neatly stiched inside "L.B." for owner, remains of the size sticker "7" still intact. Silver maker stamping looks to be Horstmann, can't decipher. SCARCE Tricorn Beaver Felt Headgear - Scarce as hens teeth, recovered from a Burlington Vermont estate in 1974, headgear is circa 1830-1840. Tricorn is 12" to each corner, beaver felt shows average wear & use and remains excellent overall. Large brown ribbon cockade with double stripe bullion lace with a Vermont Militia Button, button back mark is R&W ROBINSON EXTRA RICH ATTLEBOROUGH. Hat liner looks to have been replaced some time during the civil war. Massachusets Linen Haversack - Haversack is complete with rice bag, both bone inside buttons have been removed. Overall bag size is 9 1/2" by 9 1/2" with a 1" wide strap 46" long. Inside outer flap is stamped, cant decipher the letters. Overall in excellent condition showing honest age and light use. SCARCE CIRCA 1840 CHAPEAU HEADGEAR - Excellent Example here of one of the most sought after headgears, shows honest age & use, complete with inside liner & sweat band. SCARCE - Civil War Cavalry Hardee Hat - Excellent & MINTY overall, the pattern 1858 Hardee is complete with all original insignia and black ostrich feather plume. Hat shows only honest age, possible unissued and from Bannermans Surplus. There is just a couple small stress areas to the black felt, nothing extreme and one possible small glue repair on brim, hard to notice, noted here for accuracy. Pre-Civil War or Militia Sash - Sash is fine woven wool, 11 1/2 feet long, 140" total with a 4" body relaxed flat, the tassels are 14" long, couple very small snags with minor age spotting, sash does show wear & age. Civil War Forage Hat - Nice period example, all original to include chin strap and both eagle Infantry buttons. Maker paper label inside remains, M & G No 3. NY which is for Murphy & Griswold maker. Hat wool body excellent with only a couple small moth nips, inside liner & sweat band shows honest age with light wear. Civil War Period Quartermaster 1st Lieutenant of Staff Officer Shoulder Straps - Near Excellent overall showing signs of age & use, double border edge, open backs with fine burlap backing material, the backs shows signs of moth nipping. Mexican War Lieutenant Colonel of Staff Shoulder Straps - SCARCE as hens teeth today, straps shows signs of use & wear, overall they remain near excellent in condition, all hand sewed & manufactured, the size is 2" by 4 1/4" I have yet to experience or examine another pair of this magnitude & they don't come cheap. - Price is $ 2500.00 plus shipping and insurance. GAR Hat - GAR Hat with post number 23, complete with liner & sweat band and both GAR buttons, size tag inside 7 3/8, chin strap is missing. One small 1 1/4" repair to wool body, a small 1/2" tear or snag on top, sweat band with a couple weak or pulled areas, I see 2 tiny pin holes and one moth nip by the button, overall a nice hat. - Price is $ 425.00 plus shipping and insurance. Graduation Cap - The cap is no question 19th century, circa 1880's to 1900, somewhat scarce example, by far this is the oldest I have yet to experience & examine, shows all signs of 19th century construction, sewing, material, etc. Cap top is 9" by 9" with a velvet center button, missing the tassel. Leather sweat band & liner complete, overall very good to include a size sticker, marked 7 1/8. Shows signs of storage with moth damage, if you collect head gear, you need this for your collection. - Price is $ 125.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-18


Civil War Officers Slouch Hat - Slouch is complete with full size cloth Infantry 3" by 2 1/4" Officers Insignia, hat cord and red cloth 6th corp badge. Felt brim is 13 1/2" front to back, stands 4" high, thin brim is stiff felt, the rest of the hat is soft felt. The sweat band looks to be pig skin leather 2 1/4" wide or tall, small 2" separation front brim. Black felt with sewed binding border edge shows age & wear, numerous repairs mostly to top, some with glue and small black felt added on the inside, felt could be removed if desired. Cloth 6th corp badge with moth nipping, I see no other moth damage, front infantry bugle insignia with sliver metal number 4 looks to be sewed, no hooks, shows wear & age, small loss of bullion wire on horn near top. Civil War Period Tack Design Maple Shell Drum - Maple shell drum is is 16" by 16", the shell & hoops are original period with excellent tack design. The leathers, heads & hemp rope have been replaced with new. Drum is not playable and recondition for display only. Overall drum looks great and will display well in any room. Civil War Union Officer's Forage Hat - Private purchase forage hat of very fine quality standing 7" tall center seam in reverse, 5" in front. Fine dark wool body with only minor moth nipping, nothing extreme, hat shows honest age with little wear, brim underside is dark green. Side buttons are State of New York Excelsior with original sewing, complete with original chin strap, leather sweat band & liner, all sewing is original with no repairs. No signs of a maker label or hat size and ever having insignia, it measures 7.5" front to back, should be close to a 7 1/2 hat size. Civil War Artillery Shell Jacket - Excellent condition overall with no mothing, standard 12 button front with a 2 1/2" stand up collar, both pillows on the reverse. Jacket shows minor wear & use, shows signs of a few modern stich repairs, complete with all period buttons, liner remains excellent, inside sleeve with 3 dots for size 3 & stamped number "3", inspection mark stamped & hard to decipher. Civil War Era Top Hat - Circa 1850 with a flat brim, I suspect this is made of Beaver. Hat shows age & wear, silk liner is pulled loose inside, sewed border brim shows wear, the leather 3" sweat band is loose in a couple areas. Maker marked inside A. Miller Manhiem, Pa with Eagle above. Hat is 7" tall, 10 1/2" from side to side and 11 1/2" from front to back, Hat size about a size 7 ?? Civil War Forage Hat - Just about impossible to aquire with original insignia anymore, just surfaced from a private collection. The hat remains in very good condition overall, shows its age with only a couple small moth nips with sweatband loose at rear joint. Forage cap complete with no significant losses, all original liner, sweatband, chin strap and both general staff eagle buttons, insignia is also original to this hat. Two small repairs to the reverse, both look period, small amount of paper label remains inside. SCARCE Medical Staff Officer's Sash - Excellent condition overall showing honest age & use, sash with minor stains, possible blood, small pin holes & snags. SCARCE - Civil War Cavalry Hardee Hat - The pattern 1858 Hardee is complete with Bannerman surplus insignia and black ostrich feather plume. The front brass Cavalry saber insignia are just a little off center. Hat shows honest age, my opinion unissued and from Bannermans Surplus as most seen today. There is a couple stress areas to the black felt top, a 2" crack and a 1" crack to the front top, hard to notice in the photos, noted here for accuracy. Original label inside crown, US ARMY Extra Manufacture 7 1/8 NO. 4. Great Seal of the Confederacy - Excellent condition overall, case shows light use & wear from storage, case size is 5" square by 1" thick, velvet-lined with seal covered in glass. This is one of a 1000 electrotype replicas manufactured in 1873, coated in gold, silver and bronze, not many have survived time. These copies made to raise revenue for southern widows & orphans in need of money. The original Great Seal is stored in the Museum of the Confederacy, see last photo, this is an electrotype copy coated in bronze. - Price is $ 1950.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - HG-29-943


Line Officer's Maroon Sash - Officer's Sash remains in excellent condition with light wear & use, material has faded some with a purple tint, no moth damage, over 9 feet long, 112" over-all, the sash body is 5" wide relaxed, the knot & tassel fringe are 9" long.
