Model 1840 Cavalry Saber - Hortsmann's, Philada. Maker Marked, the sword blade is 35 1/4" long, lightly sharpen many years ago, can hardly notice, 3 small nicks near tip. Brass Guard has a small bend, leather 90% gone from wear with the remains of 3 strains of wire. Scabbard is excellent over-all with a small dent near toe. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The 35" long sword blade is in excellent condition with no nicking, well marked with maker Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale R.I. dated, U.S./J.M./1864, pommel is inspected just the same with J.M. Leather grip & wire show light use & wear with no issues, brass guard good with a nice aged patina, complete with blade leather washer. Scabbard shows age with a dark patina, couple very light dings which can be felt with your finger. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35" long, has some very, very fine nicks, nothing extreme, maker mark is worn away, looks to be an Ames Sword, dated & inspected with US 1863. Leather grip is in very good condition with original brass wire, leather worn thin in areas with no harm, still looks GREAT, brass guard retains a nice patina, allthough bent some from the fist fight, complete with leather washer, pommel cap inspected with # 5 & DR. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked, C. Roby W. Chelmsford, Mass. and dated with US/1865/A.G.M. the 35" blade is nick free with some dark age spotting. The leather grip & wire remain both in excellent condition, original leather washer intact. The scabbard has a nice dark patina with 2 small door dents near drag, one each side. Model 1860 Field & Staff Officer's Sword - Maker Marked Horstmann Philadelphia & New York with stamped "kings" head, the 32" blade is excellent condition with scroll design to include US & Flag w/shield. Brass Guard with complete working flip down guard, handle grip & wire both excellent condition. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The NICK FREE sword blade is 35" long, maker marked, Emerson & Silver/Trenton/NJ, allthough a tad light, its there, dated, U.S./JM/1865, pommel marked with JM & M, the blade is over-all excellent condition, showing only light pitting, no nicking, never sharpen, allthough buffed new looking. Leather grip & wire are excellent with just minor wear & honest age, complete with replaced washer. The scabbard is original & correct, over-all excellent and new looking from being buffed clean, couple very small dents, missing the throat is the only problem. Model 1840 NCO Sword - Non-Commissioned Officer's Sword, this one is Dated & Maker Marked, Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & U.S. DEM 1863, hand guard stamped & inspected with DEM as well, very good 32" blade shows age with light rust, could be removed with care, no nicking, nice sword overall, brass retains a good aged patina. - Price is $ SOLD plus shipping and insurance. Model 1840 Musicians Sword - Maker marked Ames MFG. Co. Chicopee, Mass & dated US J.H. 1862, the 28" blade is near excellent with light spotting from storage & age, one very small tiny nick near tip, leather washer is intact. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35" long, maker marked with Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & dated, US/DFM/1864, blade is excellent with no nicking, shows some light spotting from storage, nothing extreme, comes complete with leather washer, original leather & wire, leather shows honest wear & use, small amount of leather chipped & missing, the pommel cap is inspected with DFM. Scabbard is excellent condition showing only couple minor dings and has a nice dark color from storage, small amout of light rust on drag. Ultra RARE - AMES Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - RARE Maker Marked Ames Sword, this is my 3rd one in 20 years, just about impossible to find another. The 35 1/2" blade is nick free, looks to be chrome or nickle plated, shows signs of loss & wear from going in & out of the scabbard, only minor. Leather grip & brass wire are excellent condition, shows signs of honest use. Scabbard has two small dents with a light rust look. Only a hand full of these swords with this type of maker mark. Very good chance imported from Germany to fill demands & order's by Ames Company, didn't like the maker mark applied and canceled the remain of order. French Infantry Short Sword - Sword remains in very good condition with only a few very tiny small flea bites to the 19" double edge blade, 25" long overall, light rust & some minor pitting near handle, maker & inspection stampings are weak. Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - Maker marked with K & C for C.R. Kirschbaum, the 36" blade has 1 small tiny nick and remains near excellent with the last 10" being lightly sharpen at one time. Leather grip show minor wear & age with some worn thin areas, original wire intact along with the leather washer. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker marked & dated with US 1864 A.G.M. & C. Roby W. Chelmsford Mass, the 35" blade shows age with a couple tiny fine nicks that can be felt with your finger, nothing extreme. Brass guard shows a nice even patina, leather grip good, shows age & use with remains of 3 strands of wire, leather washer intact, pommel inspected with the letter "M". Scabbard showing use & wear with light denting and fine coating of rust, could be cleaned if desired. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Sword blade is 33" with 2 fine nicks and is un-marked, most likly a German Import, looks just like the Ames. Leather & wire have been replaced and almost impossible to tell, well done & looks old. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked Emerson & Silver Trenton, NJ. dated with US/DFM/1864, pommel cap inspected as well, all markings a tad weak and could use a little cleaning there. Leather grip & wire show honest age & wear, missing a small section of wire near pommel. Scabbard shows age as well with four dents & a tad bent from being rode on horse back. Model 1850 Field & Staff Officer's Sword - The blade is 34" long & nick free showing age with light spotting, maker marked PDL from Solingen Germany, blade etching good to include US & Eagle. Brass guard very good to include US & open scroll work, guard remains a tad loose with a replaced leather blade washer, shark skin grip very good, only shows age & use with the original wire intact. Scabbard remains very good condition showing age with minor small areas of light rust. Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - This Model is unmarked, most likly a German Import, it has a 36" blade, minor blade nicks, about 10 small nicks to the cutting edge, no leather washer. The leather grip is complete with double twisted wire, just honest wear, still very nice looking. The original scabbard has a dent near the toe, each side. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker marked Henry Boker Solingen, the 34" blade has light nicking, nothing extreme, slight bend near tip. Leather grip & wire shows honest wear & use and remain very good, brass guard excellent with a nice patina. Scabbard is good condition with a light rust surface, very small dent in drag area. Regulation - Model 1860 Staff Officer's Sword - SCARCE as hens teeth example here, the unmarked 30" blade is nick free & remains near excellent to include US & Eagle with panels of scroll work, some minor age spotting, nothing extreme, this sword has all the characteristic of the Ames manufacture. Excellent regulation horn grip to include original wire, brass guard a tad loose from missing blade washer, the only thing wrong to note is the push button guard lock is missing, spring intact & works fine, no need to lock in the down position any how, just want to note this little issue. Scabbard overall very good condition showing age & light use, some areas of spotting rust from storage. - Price is $ 1550.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - SW-21-750


MINTY Model 1850 Officer's Sword - The 30 1/2" blade remains excellent with deeply etched Eagle\US\Cannon\Flag & Shield design, no nicks and bright as the day new, no maker marks. Brass guard excellent with shark skin grip & brass wire showing light wear & use, red cloth washer intact, gold wash about 75% and starting to show its age. Leather scabbard with gold plated brass mounts, top 2 mounts showing loss of the gold and starting to dull. Leather scabbard very good with no breaks or seam seperation, one weak area as seen in the photos from the soldier sitting on the scabbard without sword intact with no harm of breaking if care is given & will last another 150 years, very small dent in toe. - Price is $ 1950.00 plus shipping and insurance. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35 1/2" long, maker marked Emerson & Silver, Trenton, N.J. and dated with US/DFM/1864. Sword blade shows light rust & age, would clean to near excellent, was lightly sharpen at some time, no harm done. Leather grip is about 85% complete with brass wire, pommel cap is inspected with DF, brass guard is bent some from the battle, adds lots of character, still has the original leather washer. Scabbard shows minor light rust & age, one small dent does no harm. Just the way I like them, nice early dated sword and shows battle use. - Price is $ 850.00 plus shipping and insurance. European Import Relic - Tired & Worn & Relic Condition, maker marked A.E. Holler, Solingen, very weak markings. Cast Iron Hilt, entire grip is long gone, sword blade is 36" showing age with rust & pitting, scabbrad is rusty with a small hole near toe, both look to have been painted black many years ago, both show areas of light cleaning, this could be improved. Not much information found on the maker, BEZDEK Book on American Swords, claims imported for the Civil War, this could be a sleeper & possible confederate used. Brass guard with a nice dark patina, pommel is inspected with J.M. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked Emerson & Silver, Trenton, NJ. the 35" blade is dated & inspected with US/DFM/1864. The sword blade shows age with some light rust, sharpen many years ago, leather washer long gone, pomel cap inspected as well with DFM. Leather grip & brass wire are both in very good condition showing age & light wear from use. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked, C. Roby W. Chelmsford, Mass. and dated with US/1865/A.G.M. the 35" blade has 2 very fine nicks that can be felt with your finger. The leather grip is about 50%, worn thin, with most of the wire being replaced with vintage copper, has original leather washer intact. The scabbard has been buffed clean, rust free and shows minor pitting and dark spotting, inspected with a weak "AGM" mark. - Price is $ 850.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - SW-27


Model 1840 NCO Officer's Sword - Excellent example here, the 32" blade is free of nicking, shows age with light spotting, missing the felt washer, maker marked with Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & dated with U.S. D.F.M. 1863, knuckle guard inspected with DFM as well. One side of the counter guard is turned up & well done with no harm or damage. Scabbard remains near excellent with a couple light dents in drag from use, drag inspected as well with DFM. French Infantry Short Sword - The Sword is 25" overall with a 19" double edge blade, with a cast brass hilt. The French maker markings "Chatellerault" are a tad to the weak side from age with some minor dark spotting, good BOLD 1852 date. The blade and the brass have a nice looking patina, a wonderful sword here. Good Condition. - Price is $ 395.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - SW-29


Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - Maker marked Horstmann, Phila. the 35 1/2" blade has spotting and shows age, 8" of the blade has light nicking & is consistent, tip has small ding. Brass guard good overall with original leather grip, brass wire is an old replacement and is broken about a 1/4", still tight and looks fine, hard to tell its not original, leather washer looks to be an old replacement.
