Model 1860 Cavalry Saber - Maker Marked with C. Roby W. Chelmsford, Mass, dated with "M" US 1863, the 35 1/2" long sword blade shows honest age with 2 small fine nicks, leather washer intact. Brass guard overall good with leather showing wear & use, wire is repaired with old nail. Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - The 36 1/2" long sword blade is in excellent condition with a couple super fine nicks that can be felt with your finger, no maker mark. Leather grip about 40% with wire broken, both show use & wear, brass guard good with leather washer missing. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Fresh from the attic, maker marked with Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale RI, dated US 1864 JCW. Sword blade is 35" long & remains nick free, shows age with a couple light spots, remains overall bright, washer intact. Brass guard has a dark aged patina, original leather grip & brass wire both good condition showing age & attic storage, leather is dry with age cracking with small areas missing. Scabbard overall excellent with no condition issues, has a good aged look & copper color patina. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Good example here, as they say fresh from the attic and untouched - The 35" blade is maker marked & dated with C. Roby W. Chelmsford Mass & US 1865 A.G.M, blade shows light rust with no nicks. Brass guard with a dark patina, leather shows honest wear & use, only 3 strains of wire remain, leather washer still intact. Model 1840 Artillery Sword - Excellent example & maker marked Chatellerault on the spine, although weak & hard to decipher the date. Leather grip & wire remain very good to excellent showing honest age & use. The 32" curved blade remains excellent with no nicking. Scabbard remains in good condition showing honest age with light rust, both sword & scabbard stamped with # 281. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Sword blade is 35" long with a weak maker mark, Mansfield & Lamb Forestdale RI, dated with US ?H 1862, the nick free blade was once sharpen. Brass guard good with 75% of the leather grip, brass wire broken, pommel inspected with GG, leather washer intact, sword shows honest use. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35" long, maker marked with Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & dated, US/DFM/1864, blade is excellent with no nicking, shows some light spotting from storage, nothing extreme, comes complete with leather washer, original leather & wire, leather shows honest wear & use, small amount of leather chipped & missing, the pommel cap is inspected with DFM. Scabbard is excellent condition showing only couple minor dings and has a nice dark color from storage, small amout of light rust on drag. Model 1840 Muscians Sword - Sword blade maker marked with C. Roby W. Chelmsford, MS and dated US 1863 F.S.S., brass guard inspected F.S.S. The 28" blade is nick free with light rust areas & dark spotting from storage & age, would clean to very good to excellent if you so desire, I dont have the time. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Early battlefield pic-up, painted Gettysburg 1863 with gold paint, the 34" blade shows age with rust & pitting. Brass guard overall good with grip leather & wire gone showing wood, pommel cap looks to be stamped DR, David Rice inspected up to 1863. Nice early battlefield recovered sword in my opinion seen Gettysburg with old 50 year plus gold paint. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked Emerson & Silver Trenton, NJ. dated with US/DFM/1864, pommel cap inspected as well, all markings a tad weak and could use a little cleaning there. Leather grip & wire show honest age & wear, missing a small section of wire near pommel. Scabbard shows age as well with four dents & a tad bent from being rode on horse back. Model 1850 Officer's Sword - The 30" long blade marked with maker Ames MFG CO Chicopee Mass as well as the scabbard. Blade overall fair to good condition showing age with weak etching, might clean some with fine oil. Six very fine, fine nicks, more like a rough-ness, nothing extreme, can feel them with your finger. Brass guard very good, leather washer intact, shark skin grip remains fair to good with a split down one side, the wire is missing. Leather scabbard with brass mounts remains fair to good condition showing age, break & glue repair near drag, missing drag screw with no harm. NOTE, the 3rd photo showing the sword not going all the way into the scabbard, I did not force to see if possible. Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - This Model is unmarked, most likly a German Import, it has a 36" blade, minor blade nicks, about 10 small nicks to the cutting edge, no leather washer. The leather grip is complete with double twisted wire, just honest wear, still very nice looking. The original scabbard has a dent near the toe, each side. Model 1906 Cavalry Sword - Steel hilted version of the Model 1860, made by the Ames Sword Company, blades were imported from Germany. Maker marked & dated, the 35" nick free blade shows age with light spotting, marked, A.S. Co. 1906 with ordnance bomb & U.S. ?HC, leather washer intact. Excellent leather grip & wire, shows honest wear & use, steel guard with nice patina & looks good. Scabbard throat with screw missing, painted flat black for parade dress, paint looks recent to me, drag stamped with M740. NOTE, the ring mounts are closer together compared to the Civil War Scabbards. Sword denting bottom side from military drill practice & drill exercise, my opinion, never seen any others like it. Sword blade remains unharmed or damaged from this. Neat conversation piece here, approximately 20,000 were produced, more scarce than the M-1860, these swords use to be common, not anymore. - Price is $ 550.00 plus shipping and insurance. Model 1840 NCO Sword - Sword blade is 32" & nick free, shows age with light spotting, maker marked with, Made by Ames MFG Co Chicopee Mass, dated, US AHK 1864. Brass guard inspected with GWC. Scabbard remains in very good condition showing honest use & wear, 3 door bends with no harm of breaking, typical of these, leather stiching remains excellent. MINTY Model 1850 Officer's Sword - The 32" C Roby & Co W. Chelmsford Mass maker marked blade remains excellent with deeply etched Eagle\US\Flag\Shield design. Spine with Iron Proof, no nicking and bright as the day new, only a small area of spotting & pitting the last 8" from storage in the scabbard. Brass guard excellent, just a tad loose, with shark skin grip & triple brass wire showing light wear, small wire repair in middle, see last photo, leather washer intact, gold gilt most to the under side remains. Scarce metal field grade scabbard with brass mounts remains in excellent condition, just a couple small dents in drag. This sword is in outstanding condition and shows little use, hard to upgrade here for this scarce maker made sword, this one won't last long. - Price is $ 2550.00 plus shipping and insurance. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35 1/2" long, maker marked Emerson & Silver, Trenton, N.J. and dated with US/DFM/1864. Sword blade shows light rust & age, would clean to near excellent, was lightly sharpen at some time, no harm done. Leather grip is about 85% complete with brass wire, pommel cap is inspected with DF, brass guard is bent some from the battle, adds lots of character, still has the original leather washer. Scabbard shows minor light rust & age, one small dent does no harm. Just the way I like them, nice early dated sword and shows battle use. - Price is $ 900.00 plus shipping and insurance. European Import Relic - Tired & Worn & Relic Condition, maker marked A.E. Holler, Solingen, very weak markings. Cast Iron Hilt, entire grip is long gone, sword blade is 36" showing age with rust & pitting, scabbrad is rusty with a small hole near toe, both look to have been painted black many years ago, both show areas of light cleaning, this could be improved. Not much information found on the maker, BEZDEK Book on American Swords, claims imported for the Civil War, this could be a sleeper & possible confederate used. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword Fighting Knife - Maker Marked Mansfield & Lamb, Forestdale, the 9.5" blade is dated & inspected with US/GGS/1862. Blade shows age with light pitting, pommel cap inspected with GG?. Leather grip & copper wire are both in good condition showing age & wear. As you can see from the blade patina, this is not something newly made or fabricated. It has all the characteristics of a confederate made side knife with a nice early 1862 date.
