Model 1860 Cavalry Saber - Maker Marked with C. Roby W. Chelmsford, Mass, dated with "M" US 1863, the 35 1/2" long sword blade shows honest age with 2 small fine nicks, leather washer intact. Brass guard overall good with leather showing wear & use, wire is repaired with old nail. Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - The 36 1/2" long sword blade is in excellent condition with a couple super fine nicks that can be felt with your finger, no maker mark. Leather grip about 40% with wire broken, both show use & wear, brass guard good with leather washer missing. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Excellent condition overall, about as nice as they come. Maker marked with Ames MFG Co Chicopee Mass, dated US DR 1863. Sword blade is 35" long, one fine nick, blade remains bright, washer intact, overall excellent. Brass guard excellent, original leather grip & brass wire both very good condition showing honest age. Model 1840 Cavalry Officer's Sword - Good example & maker marked PDL, original shark skin grip & wire remain very good, grip show age with light wear & use. Brass guard retains good shape with dark patina. The 34 1/4" blade shows age & use with very fine nicking, light spotting, cutting edge shows old file marks. Blade etching design to include Eagle & US remains a tad to the weak side. Scabbard remains overall good condition, showing age with 3 dents, possible varnish applied many years ago, drag inspected with #1, throat screw is missing. Model 1840 Cavalry Officer's Sword - Excellent example & maker marked PDL, original shark skin grip & wire remain excellent, looks to be missing one small solid strand of wire. Brass guard retains good shape & patina with small push to pommel cap. The 34 1/4" blade remains excellent with 3 very fine nicks, etching design to include Eagle & US. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35" long, maker marked & dated with, Made by Ames MFG CO Chicopee, dated, US JCW 186?, pommel cap marked with AHK, the blade is over-all very good condition showing only light dark areas & 4 very small nicks. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Overall sword remains very good in condition, this one is fresh from the attic and has never been messed with or cleaned. The 35 1/2" C. Roby W.Chelmsford Mass maker marked blade is dated with US/1865/AGM. Sword blade shows age with light rust and dark areas or spotting, nothing extreme, would clean up if you so desire, cutting edge with couple little fine nicks. SCARCE Model 1840 Officer's Cavalry Sword - Excellent condition overall, showing honest age & light use. Maker marked 35 1/2" long blade with W.H.Horstmann & Sons Philadelphia, Knights Head Stamped, spine marked Iron Proof, no nicking along cutting edge with light age spotting, nothing extreme and remains bright. Typical etching design without US marking, made by Horstmann this way to compete with both the Union & Confederate army contracts. Brass guard excellent, made of German Silver or white brass, shark skin grip very good showing honest age & light use, both original brass twisted wire intact complete with leather washer. Scabbard overall excellent with no condition issues, 2 small dents, dark from age with some light pitting, large European style sculpted type drag. - Price is $ 2500.00 plus shipping and insurance. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35" long, maker marked with Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & dated, US/DFM/1864, blade is excellent with no nicking, shows some light spotting from storage, nothing extreme, comes complete with leather washer, original leather & wire, leather shows honest wear & use, small amount of leather chipped & missing, the pommel cap is inspected with DFM. Scabbard is excellent condition showing only couple minor dings and has a nice dark color from storage, small amout of light rust on drag. Ultra RARE - AMES Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - RARE Maker Marked Ames Sword, this is my 3rd one in 20 years, just about impossible to find another. The 35 1/2" blade is nick free, looks to be chrome or nickle plated, shows signs of loss & wear from going in & out of the scabbard, only minor. Leather grip & brass wire are excellent condition, shows signs of honest use. Scabbard has two small dents with a light rust look. Only a hand full of these swords with this type of maker mark. Very good chance imported from Germany to fill demands & order's by Ames Company, didn't like the maker mark applied and canceled the remain of order. French Infantry Short Sword - Sword remains in very good condition with only a few very tiny small flea bites to the 19" double edge blade, 25" long overall, light rust & some minor pitting near handle, maker & inspection stampings are weak. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker mark weak, Ames MFG Co Chicopee Mass, dated with US DR 1863, the 35" blade shows honest age & light spotting, leather washer intact. Model 1832 Ames Artillery Short Sword - Sword blade is 19" long showing age, light nicking, nothing extreme, maker & date stamping weak which is common for these swords, dated US/1844 & N.P.Ames Springfield with eagle on top, brass guard inspected with JH/WAT, see photos for detail. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked Emerson & Silver Trenton, NJ. dated with US/DFM/1864, pommel cap inspected as well, all markings a tad weak and could use a little cleaning there. Leather grip & wire show honest age & wear, missing a small section of wire near pommel. Scabbard shows age as well with four dents & a tad bent from being rode on horse back. Model 1850 Field & Staff Officer's Sword - The blade is 32" long with one small nick, showing age with spotting near tip & some rust near maker mark, maker marked Clauberg, Solingen, blade etching good to include US & Eagle. Brass guard very good to include US & open scroll work, guard a tad loose with felt washer missing, shark skin grip good, shows age & use with the original wire intact, small chunk missing in grip, see photos. Model 1840 Cavalry Sword - This Model is unmarked, most likly a German Import, it has a 36" blade, minor blade nicks, about 10 small nicks to the cutting edge, no leather washer. The leather grip is complete with double twisted wire, just honest wear, still very nice looking. The original scabbard has a dent near the toe, each side. Model 1906 Cavalry Sword - Steel hilted version of the Model 1860, made by the Ames Sword Company, blades were imported from Germany. Maker marked & dated, the 35" nick free blade shows age with light spotting, marked, A.S. Co. 1906 with ordnance bomb & U.S. ?HC, leather washer intact. Excellent leather grip & wire, shows honest wear & use, steel guard with nice patina & looks good. Scabbard throat with screw missing, painted flat black for parade dress, paint looks recent to me, drag stamped with M740. NOTE, the ring mounts are closer together compared to the Civil War Scabbards. Sword denting bottom side from military drill practice & drill exercise, my opinion, never seen any others like it. Sword blade remains unharmed or damaged from this. Neat conversation piece here, approximately 20,000 were produced, more scarce than the M-1860, these swords use to be common, not anymore. - Price is $ 550.00 plus shipping and insurance. Leather grip & wire show age with honest wear & use, both remain in very good condition, brass guard with a nice patina, outer branch with battle bend, pommel cap stamped with DFM. Model 1840 NCO Sword - Sword blade is 32" & nick free, shows age with light spotting, maker marked with, Made by Ames MFG Co Chicopee Mass, dated, US AHK 1864. Brass guard inspected with GWC. Scabbard remains in very good condition showing honest use & wear, 3 door bends with no harm of breaking, typical of these, leather stiching remains excellent. MINTY Model 1850 Officer's Sword - The 30 1/2" W.H. Horstmann & Son, Philadelphia maker marked blade remains excellent with deeply etched Eagle\US\Flag\Shield design. Spine stamped Iron Proof, no nicking and bright as the day new, only a small area of spotting from storage, most to the maker mark area. Brass guard excellent with shark skin grip & triple brass wire showing light wear, washer intact, gold gilt about 75%. Leather scabbard with gold plated brass mounts remains near mint condition. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - The sword blade is 35 1/2" long, maker marked Emerson & Silver, Trenton, N.J. and dated with US/DFM/1864. Sword blade shows light rust & age, would clean to near excellent, was lightly sharpen at some time, no harm done. Leather grip is about 85% complete with brass wire, pommel cap is inspected with DF, brass guard is bent some from the battle, adds lots of character, still has the original leather washer. Scabbard shows minor light rust & age, one small dent does no harm. Just the way I like them, nice early dated sword and shows battle use. - Price is $ 900.00 plus shipping and insurance. European Import Relic - Tired & Worn & Relic Condition, maker marked A.E. Holler, Solingen, very weak markings. Cast Iron Hilt, entire grip is long gone, sword blade is 36" showing age with rust & pitting, scabbrad is rusty with a small hole near toe, both look to have been painted black many years ago, both show areas of light cleaning, this could be improved. Not much information found on the maker, BEZDEK Book on American Swords, claims imported for the Civil War, this could be a sleeper & possible confederate used. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker marked & dated, Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & US C.E.W. 1865, 35" blade shows age & use with a couple fine nicks, good leather grip & wire, only showing honest age & use, missing approximate 1 inch wire, hard to notice & appears fixed & tucked in leather grip, leather washer intact. Brass guard with a nice dark patina, pommel is inspected with J.M. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked Emerson & Silver, Trenton, NJ. the 35" blade is dated & inspected with US/DFM/1864. The sword blade shows age with some light rust, sharpen many years ago, leather washer long gone, pomel cap inspected as well with DFM. Leather grip & brass wire are both in very good condition showing age & light wear from use. Model 1860 Cavalry Sword - Maker Marked, C. Roby W. Chelmsford, Mass. and dated with US/1865/A.G.M. the 35" blade has 2 very fine nicks that can be felt with your finger. The leather grip is about 50%, worn thin, with most of the wire being replaced with vintage copper, has original leather washer intact. The scabbard has been buffed clean, rust free and shows minor pitting and dark spotting, inspected with a weak "AGM" mark. - Price is $ 850.00 plus shipping and insurance. Item - SW-27


Model 1840 NCO Officer's Sword - Excellent example here, the 32" blade is free of nicking, shows age with light spotting, missing the felt washer, maker marked with Emerson & Silver Trenton, N.J. & dated with U.S. D.F.M. 1863, knuckle guard inspected with DFM as well. One side of the counter guard is turned up & well done with no harm or damage. Scabbard remains near excellent with a couple light dents in drag from use, drag inspected as well with DFM. French Infantry Short Sword - The Sword is 25" overall with a 19" double edge blade, with a cast brass hilt. The French maker markings "Chatellerault" are a tad to the weak side from age with some minor dark spotting, good BOLD 1852 date. Chelmsford, Mass. & dated with US 1865 AGM, the 35" blade has light spotting, shows age with 2 very fine nicks, previous owner added a heavy coat of oil or grease, can be easily removed. Brass guard good overall with original leather grip & brass wire, very dark from storage, leather washer intact, pommel cap stamped with the letter "M".
