Civil War Era Medical Canteen - Oval Medical canteen is made of tin with solder seams. The body size is 9 1\2 long x 6 3\4 wide by 1 1\4 inches thick. Canteen has two period repairs which does little harm, the one side is dented. These canteens worn on the side were made curved to fit against the body. Possible Confederate Wood Canteen - Canteen is from the late D. Coiner Rosen Estate of New Market, VA. Old Tag reads from the GAR Post Fred, MD. includes Museum log #597 as painted on neck. The size is 7 1/2" diameter by 4" thick by 11" tall, wood shows age with worm damage, most to one side, stopper is missing.
